Baltimore City Nineteenth-Century Photos
Jacob Henry Ruhland
Dr. James White has submitted this photo of his
grandparents Jacob and Nellie Roberta Lowman Ruhland on their wedding in
1903. The Ruhlands had a lunch counter or stall in the old Lexington
Market before the market burned down and again after it was rebuilt.
Nellie died at age 104 in the 1980s.
Charles Quartley made this cabinet card image of
Jacob Henry Ruhland, father of the young man above. Quartley was located
at 11 East Baltimore Street from 1887 until 1904. Unfortunately, this photo
has faded significantly since it was created a century ago.
